The title of Inga Levi's exhibition, 'When Reality Trembles - Time Stopped. Parallel worlds', reflects the state of being between the reality of life and the reality of war. The artist's drawings are a record of everyday life cracking under the influence of dramatic events, stopping time in fragments of reality. [...]
The artist documents not only her personal experience of war, but also tries to place it in a broader political context, showing the brutal reality resulting from the imperial ambitions of a neighbouring country. War becomes not only an armed conflict, but also a tool for shaping identity, subjectivity and the way we perceive the world. [...]
Inga Levi, born 1986 in Kyiv, intermedia artist. [...] In 2021, she was the beneficiary of the Gaude Polonia programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Since the Russian invasion in Ukraine, Levi has been making a monumental series of drawings, ‘Double Exposure’, which chronicles her personal experiences as well as the media reports she quotes from a country fighting, for its sovereignty and identity
